It was nice to see many of you at Thursday night’s borough meeting. We were hoping to take part in meaningful and productive discussions, however that did not happen. Please read the attached letter that was sent in response to phone calls from the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Cape May Herald.
Please pay special attention to the fact that we offered several suggestions which would have enabled both a productive meeting and a tree lighting ceremony to take place successfully. Mayor Fox adamantly refused and other officials repeatedly said, “This is just the way we do it” and were not going to change which summarizes their attitude and manner in which they choose to govern.
The events were an embarrassment to our island and to those who attended and do not represent the foundational values of our organization.
In addition to the attached letter, early Friday morning we visited the grade schools that the choir children attend. We spoke with the choir director, guidance counselor and superintendent to let them know how concerned we were that their students witnessed chaotic and disrespectful behavior. In response to our visit, we received a very nice letter from Mr Christopher Armstrong, Superintendent, who appreciated our visit and concern for the children and assured us that they will be back in 2019 to continue the tradition.
Despite daily challenges, the CTWWW will continue to represent all taxpayers of West Wildwood as we proceed into the New Year. The events of Friday night have only strengthened our resolve.
